Money  Saving Tips

Tip #1 for mailing postcards: Under the new postage rates, First Class card rate is preferable over Standard letter rates. There is no Standard card rate. This applies only to mailing of 500 cards or more. The average savings could be 2 to 3 cents per card depending on destination. Card rate applies only to cards no larger than 4 1/4" x 6". Remember to have your printing company print the proper postage indicia for First Class Automation rates. Also. design your card to accommodate a 3 1/2" barcode in the address area

Tip #2 for mailing tri-fold letters or brochures for automation rates:  Single sheet letters must be printed on 28# paper to meet USPS requirements for automation mailings using only one closure tab at the top. You can use 24# paper if you have an insert inside such as a #6 envelope or you plan to use two closure tabs, one places at each end of the piece. Lighter paper does not qualify for automation postage rates.

Tip #3 for postage permits.  Irwin Mailing Services maintains both First Class and Standard mailing permits for use by our customers. If you are paying for your own permit, you can save $175.00 per permit, per year, by putting your permit on hold. While using the services of Irwin Mailing Services, you can discontinue use of your permit on the next annual payment date.  Your permit number and authorization letter will stay on file with the USPS for up to two years or until you elect to use it again by paying the permit fee at that time. 

Tip #4 For big savings on postage:   For big savings on postage; clean up your mailing list with NCOA & ANK (National Change of Address) and (Address Not Known). The ANK Product is an enhancement to the existing 18 month NCOA process. The existing 18 month process provides change-of-address information for moves that have occurred in the past 18 months. The ANK data will not return the new address, but will flag every more that has occurred in months 19 - 48, along with the move effective date, return code, and match type. This service is provided by Irwin Mailing Services on all mailings that we handle but can also be provided for those who do their own mailing. List minimum 200 addresses.
